The client:
Nibula Treats is a family-run ecommerce business. They create affordable luxury gift hampers and sell them to organisations and individuals via their website nibulatreats.co.uk.
The brief:
When our clients bought the business, they inherited a legacy Shopify website. It was outdated and had virtually no search engine optimisation (SEO) so the website wasn’t performing well on Google. Nibula Treats was heavily reliant on Amazon for sales.
Mark Williams is the Chief Operations Officer.
“We didn’t want all our eggs in one basket because Amazon can kick you off at any moment. We wanted ownership of our own sales, plus better margins, by selling directly through the website.”
Our brief was to design a new Spotify ecommerce website — mobile responsive, fully functional for direct sales — with a focus on the family element which makes Nibula Treats unique. In addition, they asked us to create an SEO strategy to get the site found by customers searching for gift hampers on Google.
The process:
The process was collaborative from the start. Our client listed their website requirements and together, we prioritised them.
Prioritisation is particularly effective when it comes to SEO. Rather than focusing on everything at once, our clients could decide which products were most likely to deliver quick wins. With Nibula, because the website was going live before the Christmas holidays, they chose to start with `gift hampers for teachers’ and `corporate hampers’.
When it came to website design, our initial home page layout didn’t wow them. We collected feedback about what they liked and didn’t like, then went away and came up with an amended design. They loved the second version.
“It was very collaborative — a good to-and-fro relationship. I’ve used website designers before, and it was hard work. This was enjoyable, with great face-to-face meetings. Pumpkin wasn’t just creating our website. There was a level of care about our business.”
There were a number of different elements to this project. Along with website design and SEO, our client also needed excellent website functionality, copywriting for blogs, brand photography, Facebook and Google Ads. We can offer all these because our agency has access to the right expertise. What’s more, we can coordinate and manage them.
At Pumpkin, Sonya Kumar is our project manager and organisational genius. She’s also the single point of contact for every service provider, and for our client.
“The level of support is above and beyond. If I need to chat to them, they’re responsive and I know it will get sorted. Also, there’s strength and depth. They have a body of skilled people to call on, and if I need someone to do something, they know who to go to.”
The result:
When Nibula Treats came to us, they had only 7 ranking keyword terms. Today, the newly designed website is ranking for 393 keyword terms and has 65 page 1 positions, including our client’s prioritised keyword terms.
We’re writing this case study 6 months after the website launch, and the number of page 1 positions is increasing rapidly. Sometimes, it can take a while to see SEO results. In this instance, our client didn’t have to wait.
“Within 2 weeks of the website going live, we were ranking on page 1 of Google for the brand new keywords we wanted to rank for.
If someone were on the fence, I’d say 100% use these guys. I would 100% recommend them.”
We’re about to launch a Google Ads campaign for Nibula Treats, so watch this space. We’ll let you know how it goes.
