Working together since: 2023
The challenge
Air 2 Heat is a Totton-based team that designs, installs and services air source heat pumps and air conditioning for homes across Hampshire. They have been trading since 2022, are MCS certified, and fit leading brands including Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric and Vaillant.
Before 2023, Air 2 Heat had no website and no way of winning work online. Growing meant competing in a market that is highly seasonal: air conditioning searches spike in a heatwave and vanish by autumn, just as competition for heating drives ad costs up.
What we did
2023: a practical website built to win work. We designed and built air2heatuk.com, giving Air 2 Heat a professional home online with clear pages for heat pumps and air conditioning.
From June 2025: turning the website into a lead generator. With the foundations in place, we added paid search, local SEO and reviews:
- Google Ads built around the seasons. We split budget between air conditioning and heat pump campaigns and moved it as demand shifted, so spend went where searches were cheapest and busiest.
- Cleaned up the tracking. We filtered out overseas bot traffic that was inflating the figures, so every enquiry we report is a genuine one.
- Local SEO. We built location pages for areas including Portsmouth, Winchester, Gosport and Fareham, Totton and Chandlers Ford, so Air 2 Heat shows up for searches like “air conditioning Portsmouth” without paying for every click.
- Clearer messaging. We updated the site to explain that air conditioning heats as well as cools, opening up year-round demand.
- Reviews. We set up the Google Business Profile with a review link and QR code for every completed job.
The results
Comparing summer 2026 (June to August) with summer 2025:
- 3x more website enquiries: 56 genuine enquiries, up from 18
- 45% lower cost per enquiry: around £32, down from £59
- Website visits more than doubled: 2,292 visits in July and August, up from 1,015
- Cost per click down to 50p in July 2026, the lowest since the campaigns began
- 22 enquiries in a single month during the June heatwave
- Up to 29x more visibility in Google: 10,543 search appearances in May 2026, up from 359 a year earlier
- First enquiries from free search, as the location pages started to rank
- From zero to three Google reviews, the first a five-star review
What’s next
The site already ranks around 8th in Google for “air source heat pump Southampton”, so heat pumps and the Boiler Upgrade Scheme are the focus for winter. New location pages for Lymington, the New Forest and Salisbury will follow, along with an early booking campaign so next summer’s customers aren’t left waiting.
